For Your Reading Pleasure

Sponsor Spotlight Posts.

Some people just cringe or scroll through at the very mention myself included. Not becuase we don't like the people being spotlighted but because who has time to read all these blogs? Certainly not me- and I imagine the same is true for you. Especially now that it's summer and we are all enjoying the sunshine and trying yet failing at pulling off any kind of bathing suit at all.

So this month I thought I would try something a little different because I sure do love my sponsors.

I compiled a list of a few of my favorite posts written by my lovely sponsors. Head on over and check out these gems, and don't forget to tell them I sent you!

Soleil Selene Aqua Rosette Necklace Giveaway

The other day, I got a package that I was seriously so excited about. One of my lovely sponsors, Leilani of Soleil Selene, who I had the pleasure of meeting back in March sent me one of her Aqua Rosette Necklaces from her fabulous shop.

It is absolutely beautiful and really high quality (i.e. sturdy enough for 5ohBaby to try to yank it off of me without it even budging once.) I have been looking for a aqua necklace for a looooooong time and I was just too darn excited to have this beauty. It is the perfect length and the 7 Rosettes really make this necklace stand out.  I immediately ran out to take pictures using the tripod 5ohHubby got me for mother's day which was his very sweet way of saying "I'm done being a fashion photographer".

As I was shooting on my porch I realized that there wasnt enough distance between me and my tripod to fully capture the whole outfit since that is obviously important?? so I decided to put the tripod in the street and take pics in front of my house. I knew that I would be able to fully capture the outfit.

And I did. Just not the way I had imagined.

Awkward.

I was so excited to be using my tripod that I never stopped to see if I was fully in the frame until I had shot a bunch of pictures. I cropped part of my head off in every.single.one.

Apparently, I have a lot to learn about tripod pictures. Sorry to have shamed you, Nina.

I decided the next best thing was to try a bunch of sitting or crouching shots.

Equally as awkward but at least I could fit my whole self in frame.

Well, I guess this confirms it. I will never have a popular fashion blog.

::sigh::

Eh, whaddayagonnado?

Did you say give away that gorgeous necklace ok not the one i'm wearing but the same exact one to one lucky reader?

My thoughts exactly!

Well, actually, I can take no credit for it. It's all Leilani.

A Memorial Day Poem

Memorial Day
Edgar Guest

The finest tribute we can pay
Unto our hero dead today,
Is not a rose wreath, white and red,
In memory of the blood they shed;
It is to stand beside each mound,
Each couch of consecrated ground,
And pledge ourselves as warriors true
Unto the work they died to do.

Into God's valleys where they lie
At rest, beneath the open sky,
Triumphant now o'er every foe,
As living tributes let us go.
No wreath of rose or immortelles
Or spoken word or tolling bells
Will do to-day, unless we give
Our pledge that liberty shall live.

Our hearts must be the roses red
We place above our hero dead;
Today beside their graves we must
Renew allegiance to their trust;
Must bare our heads and humbly say
We hold the Flag as dear as they,
And stand, as once they stood, to die
To keep the Stars and Stripes on high.

The finest tribute we can pay
Unto our hero dead today
Is not of speech or roses red,
But living, throbbing hearts instead,
That shall renew the pledge they sealed
With death upon the battlefield:
That freedom's flag shall bear no stain
And free men wear no tyrant's chain.

Port of Thoughts

Happy Day to you 5ohWifey Readers!
I'm Elizabeth from port of
thoughts
and I am so excited to be a sponsor here!

First of all can we all take our hands off the keyboard and put them together to give
a round of applause for 5ohWifey?  She seems to have achieved a Supermom
status that makes me certainly look up to her.
So what should you know about me?

I've been blogging for a little over two years now.  At first I mainly blogged for
myself and family to capture memories of big events like trips or birthdays.
In the past year and a half I have really started getting into my blog and will say
it's now one of my passions.  I've always enjoyed writing and have found
that for me, blogging forces me to take a moment and reflect on this precious
life I've been blessed with.  I'm also quite the sentimental person and am
attached to things that hold memories.  I see blogging as an investment of
sorts, because someday I'll be sitting in my rocking chair sharing the old blog with
grandchildren.  :)
In the past 10 months my blog has shifted focus and become mainly about this
guy.

My sweet husband and I were given an answer to our prayers when we became
pregnant with our first child in August.  We welcomed Henry Thomas Cooper
into the world with a bit of a whirlwind that you can read about over here.  Like
pouring water into a cup of sand, his little soul has found it's way into every crevice
of our life making it better than we ever knew possible.
New mommyhood has taught me a few things I thought I'd share with you all.
1. If you have a baby boy you should know the "lil' hose" points down in the
diaper.  Yes, we learned this after our first four days at home, changing his
outfits about 12 times every 24 hours.  A desperate phone call was made to
my sis, mother of a boy.  Now don't ya think that's something they should tell
ya?
 2. YouTube is your best friend.  I'm not sure how people had children before
this because we wouldn't have been able to put the Diaper Genie, or our Dr. Brown's
bottles together without it.
3.  Strollers have breaks.  mmmm Nuff said right?  Good thing I
learned this in a flat empty parking lot.
4. It's best to use an elevator over the escalator when pushing a stroller.
We spent a few good minutes looking at the escalator before the two of us held the
stroller as we rode down.  We didn't know any better, until the lady at the
checkout tells us that we had scared her and it would likely be best to use their
elevator.  How were we to know right?  :/

I'd love for you to come check out my port of thoughts and follow along as I learn
more along the way.
